If you park near the trail head, I would guesstimate that it is about two hundred yards to the waterfall. The distance is not that great, but the slickness of the trail especially during a rainy period, and the steepness of the trail particularly in the first fifty yards is what makes the trail strenuous. The return trip back to your vehicle will be the hardest part of your experience.

It was John Feilding Guice who helped Mr. J. D. Weeks to erect and man the tower. For years we were able to climb the tower and talk to the man on duty and observe the view. The ladder to the tower went straight up and was not side to side as is most towers. I have my Grand pa's retirment certificate when he retired fron the tower January 1st. 1957 after serving 5 years in the tower. More history can be obtained by contacting my father Loma D. Guice in Sicily Island. I believe the last tower attendent was Mr. White.
